Chevrolet Equinox* had a great Q2’19, with sales up by around a third, and according to our estimates that put it ahead of the suffering Nissan Rogue, which fell to its lowest position in a year on the back of a 22% sales decline
Honda Accord saw its sales fall by almost 20%, putting it once again outside of the Top 10, all while its arch-rival Toyota Camry hung in much better in 8th
Jeep models keep suffering through a poor 2019, and June was no different, all the way from the new Wrangler (sales down 13%) and Compass (sales down 27%) to the facelifted Cherokee (sales down 29%) and Renegade (sales down 29%); the only bright spot was the evergreen Grand Cherokee (sales up 11%)
After seeing its sales pick up the new Nissan Altima saw its sales fall by almost 40%, as bad of a performance as the about-to-be-replaced Ford Explorer
The new Hyundai Santa Fe enjoyed a really good June (sales up 36%), but it clearly came at the expense of the smaller Tucson (sales down 21%)
Other models that enjoyed a good June include GMC Acadia* (sales up 91%), VW Atlas (sales up 101%), and the Ford EcoSport and Fiesta (sales up 39% and 60%, respectively)
Highlights – new models
The only new models to hit the market in June was Hyundai Palisade, debuting at 383 sales
Ford Ranger once again saw its sales top 7,000, putting it halfway between the GMC Canyon (around 4,000 per month) and Chevy Colorado (around 10,000 per month)
After finally breaking through the 6,000 barrier last month, Nissan Kicks notched up another success in June as it sold more than 7,000 units for the first time, putting it ahead of the Jeep Renegade, and less than 1,000 units behind the class-leading Honda HR-V
Kia Telluride once again sold around 6,000 units per month, a really good performance for the newcomer
Sales of the new Jeep Gladiator are now well and truly underway, with the new model selling more than 4,000 units in June
Sales of the Honda Passport seem to have leveled off at some 3,000 per month, around a quarter of the level of its bigger sibling, the Pilot, while those of the BMW X7 have remained level since its debut at about 2,000 per month
The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan shifter more than 2,000 units for the first time in June, about the level at which its indirect predecessor, the CLA, was selling last year
Genesis G70 sales once again sat at over 1,000, a decent if not stellar performance for the new model (they are still below the sales for its cousin, the Kia Stinger)
