Annual sales figures for the 1982-1995 Porsche 928 in the US.
The 928 was introduced in 1982 in the United States as a Model Year 1983 and was initially intended to replace the Porsche 911. However, it was such a different concept that the 911 stayed in production alongside it, and eventually outlasted the 928. It was the first Porsche with a V8 engine, it had the engine in the front and it was more a luxury touring coupe than a thoroughbred sports car.
Production of the 928 ended in 1995, at the same time as the brand’s entry-level model of that time, the Porsche 968.
