Acura Integra
The Acura Integra is a compact sports car and luxury vehicle that was produced by Acura, the luxury division of Honda, from 1985 to 2006. It gained a reputation as one of the most beloved and iconic vehicles in the automotive world, especially among enthusiasts and performance-oriented drivers. Acura Integra Generations
Acura’s Integra was a rebadged version of the Honda Integra that was released for the 1986 model year and is a compact car available throughout its life in various coupe and sedan body styles. It spans five generations taking a hiatus in the U.S. from 2001 to 2022. First Generation (1986-1989), Second Generation (1990-1993), Third Generation (1994-2001), Fifth Generation 2022-2023. Acura rebadged the Integra in 2002 as RSX, lasting until 2006. Integra remained front-engine front-wheel-drive except for its third generation’s brief offering of four-wheel-drive. A variety of inline-four-cylinder engines and manual or automatic transmissions were available. Variant models of note include the Type R and A-Spec.
Fifth Generation Acura Integra
Model Years: 2022 Onwards
The Acura Integra’s fifth generation was a replacement for the Acura ILX. The 2023 model Acura Integra was released in 2022 as a five-door “lift-back” body style. The car marks the resurrection of the Integra name to North America, which was discontinued in 2001. This Integra is based on the Honda Civic of the same year. It also shares the engine with the Honda Civic Si. A turbo-charged inline-four-cylinder front-mounted engine powers the front wheels. Customers have a choice of a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Acura also designed a sport-focused Integra that goes by the name A-Spec.
Fourth Generation Acura Integra
Model Years: 2002 – 2006
The fourth-generation Integra was introduced in Japan on April 13, 2001 and produced from July 2001 until August 2006. For North America (United States and Canada), it was introduced as the Acura RSX in accordance with Acura’s new alphabetical naming scheme. It also had an entirely new engine, the K-series. The Integra came in two models in the United States, the RSX and the RSX Type-S boasting the K20A2 engine from 2002 to 2004, while the 2005 and 2006 RSX-S came with a K20Z1. The RSX was sold as a Honda Integra in Japan and Australia, markets where Acura did not exist. In June 2006, Honda discontinued the Integra after its final 300 cars were sold, due to the shrinkage of the coupe market.
Third Generation Acura Integra
Model Years: 1994-2001
The third generation of Acura Integra was introduced for the 1994 model year. The updated Integra featured distinctive styling changes, with the introduction of the “bug eye” front headlights. These headlights did not prove popular in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), so starting in 1995, JDM Integras featured long rectangular headlights, although North American versions retained the “bug eye” headlights. The third gen Integra was offered as a liftback coupe or sedan, and was available with a range of naturally aspirated inline four engines. A wide number of variants were available, including the GS-R and the top of the line performance focused Type R. The third generation Integra was in production until 2001, when it was replaced by the fourth generation Acura Integra (Re-Branded As RSX).
Second Generation Acura Integra
Model Years: 1990-1993
The second generation Acura Integra (Honda Integra outside of North America), was introduced for the 1990 model year. Sold as a liftback coupe or sedan, the second gen Integra was powered by a series of front mounted inline four engines, with drive going to the front wheels. For the North American market, a top of the line variant known as the GS-R was offered. Built until 1993, the second gen Integra was replaced by the Third Generation Integra.
First Generation Acura Integra
Model Years: 1986-1989
The first generation of Acura Integra was released for the 1986 model year. Created to be a more upmarket and refined model, the Integra was offered as a sedan or liftback coupe, and with a variety of inline four engines. Sold outside of the North American market as the Honda Integra, the first generation Integra was in production until 1989 when it was replaced by the Second Generation Integra.
