Ford Mondeo Sales Figures

Ford Mondeo

They exclude sales figures of the Ford Mondeo Classic, produced and sold in China from 2007 and slowly phased out after the introduction of the new generation. From 2022, the fifth generation Ford Mondeo was introduced as a China-only model, produced by Changan-Ford. It is also marketed in the Middle East as the Ford Taurus, but no longer available in Europe and the USA. Related models: Lincoln Z, Ford Evos.

Ford Mondeo Overview

The Ford Mondeo is a large family car produced by Ford since 1993. It’s known for its spaciousness, refined driving experience, and strong value proposition in its segment. The Mondeo was designed to be a world car, with models intended for different markets but underpinned by largely shared engineering. In North America, for instance, the Mondeo was sold as the Ford Contour and later the Ford Fusion.

The Mondeo was introduced in 1993 as a successor to the Ford Sierra, marking a major shift in Ford’s approach to producing a “world car” – a vehicle designed to be sold in various markets with minimal changes.

It is currently in its sixth generation and is sold in Europe, Asia, and South America. The current Mondeo is powered by a variety of engines, including a 1.5L EcoBoost petrol engine, a 2.0L EcoBlue diesel engine, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It is available with a choice of a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Mondeo is available in two body styles: a five-door hatchback and a four-door saloon. It is also available in a variety of trim levels, including the base Trend, the ST-Line, and the Vignale.

Ford Mondeo Sales Figures

The Mondeo has generally been well-received for its driving dynamics, spaciousness, and overall value for money. It’s been praised in Europe for its handling, comfort, and safety features. The Mondeo is a good choice for those looking for a stylish and practical mid-size car. It is also relatively fuel-efficient, getting up to 31 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway. The Ford Mondeo competes in the large family car segment against vehicles like the Volkswagen Passat, Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, Toyota Avensis, and Skoda Superb, among others.
