Peugeot 408 Sales Figures

Peugeot 408

Sales figures for the Peugeot 408 in China and Europe. Stellantis’ manufacturing partner (and shareholder) Dongfeng produces an all-electric version of the 408 in China, called the Fukang ES600. The Peugeot 408 was introduced in 2022 as a coupe-styled crossover slotted between the 308 hatchback and 3008 SUV in Europe. The 408 is a stylish and practical car that offers a comfortable ride and good handling. It is also available as a plug-in hybrid, which makes it a good choice for drivers who want to save money on fuel.

Peugeot 408 Overview

The Peugeot 408 is a compact sedan produced by the French automaker Peugeot. It’s positioned above the 308 hatchback in terms of size and targets a segment of buyers who prefer the practicality of a sedan. The Peugeot 408 was first introduced in 2010, building on the platform of the Peugeot 308. It was designed to cater to markets where compact sedans are popular, such as China, South America, and various countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

While it shares underpinnings with the 308, the 408 features a unique design tailored to the sedan profile. The design evolves alongside Peugeot’s design language, offering a sleek and modern appearance. The interior is well-appointed and follows the brand’s focus on ergonomics and comfort, which is evident in models like the 308.

One of the primary markets for the 408 is China, where compact and mid-sized sedans have traditionally been in high demand. The vehicle has been adapted and manufactured locally to cater to the specific preferences and needs of the Chinese market. Other significant markets include Latin America and Russia. The 408 has been offered with a range of gasoline and diesel engines over the years, varying by market. This includes efficient smaller-displacement engines as well as more powerful options to cater to different customer needs.

The 408 is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 178 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The plug-in hybrid model has a 11.8-kWh battery pack that provides an electric-only range of up to 40 miles. The 408 is available in three trim levels: Active, Allure, and GT. The Active trim comes standard with features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a rearview camera. The Allure trim adds features like a panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The GT trim adds features like a sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, and 18-inch wheels.

Peugeot 408 Sales Figures

The Peugeot 408 has been generally well-received in markets where sedans are popular, especially for its balance of comfort, design, and value for money. Given the global nature of the 408’s target markets, it has been produced in various locations worldwide, including China, Malaysia, Russia, and Brazil. The 408 has seen updates and facelifts since its introduction, reflecting Peugeot’s evolving design language and the integration of newer technologies. As of my last update in September 2021, the 408 continues to be a part of Peugeot’s lineup in selected markets.
