Zotye has been on a launching spree for crossovers and SUVs in 2016 and 2017, but none of them features original design. The brand introduced the Audi Q3 clone SR7, the Porsche Macan clone SR9 and the Damai X7 which is not just cloned from an existing VW Group product but rather from a concept car: the Volkswagen Crossblue concept. After the Damai X5 this is also the second model with the Damai (in English: Domy) name which could grow into a subbrand in the future.

The Damai X7 has two engine options: a 1,5-liter turbo with 150hp / 210Nm with a 5-speed manual or a 1,8-liter with 170hp / 245Nm mated to a 6-speed DCT. Dimensions are 4.738/1.928/1.665mm with a 2.850mm wheelbase. Prices range from 104.900 to 130.900 yuan (from € 14.100,-/US$ 15,200 to € 17.600,-/US$ 18,950). Rivals are the Geely Boyue, Roewe RX5, Changan CS75 and Haval H6.

At the end of 2018 the Damai X7 was discontinued and its platform was re-used for the Dorcen G70s.

Car sales statistics from China only include domestic production and exclude imported models.
