The Yao was initially launched as the A5 plus at the Shanghai Auto Show, but when it hit showrooms it was renamed Yao. It’s a compact sedan that replaces the JAC Jiayue A5 now that JAC is changing it models over to the Sehol brand.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 184hp and 300 Nm or torque, mated to a 6-speed DCT.
Dimensions are 4,780/1,820/1,492mm with a wheelbase of 2,770mm.
Prices range from 98,800 yuan (€13.700,- / US$ 15,500) to 134,800 yuan (€18.700,- / US$ 21,200) and will compete against sedans like the GAC Trumpchi Empow55 (98,300 to 131,800 yuan) and MG6 (103,800 to 139,800 yuan).
