Chinese Car Sales Data

In this section of the site, you can find a databank of auto sales in China since 2003, for every brand and every model, with sales per year and per month compared to the previous year or month.

Please note these data only include locally produced models, and exclude imported cars. Data for brands that have no local production (in a Joint Venture with a local manufacturer) and only import their vehicles are not available, and neither are data for the imported models from brands that do produce some of their vehicles locally. There are some exceptions from brands and models for which import sales data is available, but that will be mentioned explicitly.

Click on the brand to see its Chinese sales from 2003 through 2018. Or use the drop-down menu at the upper right hand of this website to see sales specified by model. Or take a look at our latest monthly China car sales reports.

  1. Hi,

The article on Chinese Car Sales Data is so great ! Many thanks to your efforts.

I am wondering, what is the unit of measurement in the sales data ?

    1. Hi Yuting Chen,

thanks for your compliments, very much appreciated!
The data is in the European format, which means a comma as a thousand separator instead of a period. So you could say the unit used is thousands.
I hope this clarifies your question.

  2. Hello,
I am doing a research paper on China automobile industry. I was wondering if you knew where i could find information for 2017 or 2016 car market share by manufacturer/brand?
Great article, if not i’ll do the graph myself with this data 🙂

    1. Hi Alex,

you can use the search boxes in the top right-hand of our site to search for sales per brand (select All models at the model select box).

      1. Thanks. And do you have by any chance a total industry share and percentage of each brand on one page?

  3. Hello

Congrats for this article and all articles on Chinese car market
How about brand Jeep sales? I couldn’t find it

  4. Dear Bart, I follow your statistics for China closely – a great work! Today, I found, you have changed the “look” and structure of your Homepage.
Actually, when I click on the BMW and Mercedes links for China, the relevant pages for Europe are displayed – probably a mistake in interlinking?
    Please check.
    Best regards.
