Skoda

Skoda-auto-sales-statistics-EuropeSkoda sales and market share in Europe have increased from 2010 to 2015 thanks to the introduction of two all-new models in 2012 and a renewal of successful products.

The Citigo minicar has outsold its Spanish twin Seat Mii from the start, but has lagged far behind its original, the VW Up!, selling less than half of that model’s numbers. Besides that, the triplets are facing heavy competition from the new generation of the Citroën C1, Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo triplets and a new Renault Twingo.

The Skoda Rapid compact sedan and hatchback has been introduced late 2012 and is relatively successful, although it did seem to cannibalize from its siblings, the Fabia subcompact and the Octavia compact before these were renewed in 2014. Fabia sales have steadily declined from 2009 to 2014 before rebounding in 2015 as it was renewed. It was the brand’s best selling car in 2009 and 2010, but even the new generation won’t bring the Fabia up to levels the Octavia is currently enjoying. The Octavia has broken its sales record in 2014 and again in 2015 thanks to the new generation in showrooms from the second half of 2013. It scores a consistent top-10 finish, the best-ever score for any Skoda model.

The Yeti crossover has been introduced in 2009 and has seen sales increases slowly but steadily every year except for a small decline in 2013 before rebounding to its best sales ever in 2014 and again in 2015 thanks to its facelift late 2013. The brand’s flagship midsized Superb is also updated in the second half of 2013 and recovered some of the volume lost in the two years before.

The Roomster MPV has remained virtually unchanged since it introduction in 2006, and has shown remarkable sales increases in 2011 and 2012 after a sharp decline in 2010. It was discontinued in 2015 without a direct replacement as a planned rebadged VW Caddy didn’t make it into production as Skoda will instead focus on crossovers like the all-new Kodiaq.
