Kia Optima Sales Figures

Kia Optima

Here you will find monthly and yearly Canadian, European, Chinese and U.S. sales figures for the Kia Optima. The Kia Optima is a mid-size sedan produced by the South Korean manufacturer Kia Motors. Introduced in 2000, the Optima has been one of Kia’s more prominent offerings in the sedan segment. Over its lifespan, the Optima has been notable for its transformation from a basic, value-oriented sedan to a stylish, feature-rich vehicle, exemplifying Kia’s broader push towards design excellence and enhanced quality. The Optima is known for its stylish design, comfortable ride, and long list of features. It is also a good choice for those who are looking for a car that is fun to drive.

Kia Optima Overview

The first-gen Optima was largely based on the Hyundai Sonata and represented Kia’s entry into the competitive mid-size sedan market. In 2005 we saw a complete redesign offered improved styling and interior quality for the second generation. It continued the platform sharing with Hyundai Sonata. The third Generation in 2010 marked a significant shift for the Optima. With design overseen by Peter Schreyer, Kia’s design head at the time, the new Optima showcased a dramatic, sporty design that garnered widespread attention and praise. 2015’s fourth generation built on the success of the previous generation, the fourth-gen Optima featured even more refined styling, improved interiors, and advanced technology features.

From the third generation onwards, the Optima’s design became one of its standout features, characterized by its sleek profile, distinctive front grille, and stylish lighting elements. The Optima has been offered with a range of engine options over the years, including gasoline, diesel (in some markets), and hybrid variants. The GT or SX trims, depending on the market, represent the sportier versions, typically equipped with turbocharged engines and sport-tuned suspensions.

The current Optima is available in sedan body style. It is powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. A 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 177 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque is also available. All models come standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available.

Kia Optima Sales Figures

Especially from its third generation onward, the Optima has been well-received for its design, feature set, and value proposition. It has often been cited as an example of Kia’s transformation into a manufacturer of stylish and high-quality vehicles.
