The US car market continued its decline, with sales falling for the fourth time in as many months. While the actual rate of decline, 2.0%, was less severe than in February and March, this provides little comfort as April 2019 benefitted from an extra selling day relative to April 2018. Overall, the market has declined by 2.9% so far in 2019.
In its third month of the year the US car market is still yet to register a month of growth, with March sales falling by 3.1% relative to the same month in 2018. Year to date, in 2019, sales are now 3.0% down on 2018, suggesting that this year may be the first downturn in the market in many years.
OK, I know I promised to catch up on US Sales figures (and I will!), but I just had to get this one off my chest because it’s been bothering me for a while. After seeing sales drop by 1.0% in January, the market suffered an even worse February, with sales down 2.9%.
